Breaking the Stigma of Styled Shoots: A Dreamy Elopement in the Woods
This past week, something special happened in the woods.
Another talented photographer and I teamed up with one goal in mind: to create space for local creatives to stretch their vision, build their portfolios, and most importantly, break the stigma around styled shoots.
Too often, styled sessions are looked at as “fake” or “forced,” but this shoot was anything but. It was raw, emotive, full of story, and allowed everyone involved to tap into their unique artistry. We chose to showcase two love stories, one elopement and one engagement, giving photographers a chance to photograph a variety of storytelling moments in one setting.
The breathtaking backdrop of the forest gave us everything: golden light peeking through the trees, moody shadows, and a rustic terrain that paired so effortlessly with our barefoot bride in her soft, modern gown and dramatic lace-trimmed veil. And can we talk about the cowgirl hat? Obsessed.
This session came to life with the help of an amazing team:

💐 Florals: @blossoms.and.branches
📸 Co-hosted by: @braelyn.nichole.photography
More than just pretty photos, this shoot was about empowerment. For every new photographer who’s ever felt “too new,” too small, or not ready enough, let this be your sign: you’re allowed to create. You don’t need a massive following, a fancy venue, or ten years of experience to do something impactful. You just have to have the courage to put yourself out there and do the damn thing.
And trust me, magic will follow.
